UK dub pioneer Mad Professor pays tribute to his friend and long-time collaborator, the Mighty Upsetter Lee “Scratch” Perry, touring the UK to celebrate his life in his own unique dub style.
Joining the Professor will be Sister Aisha – roots daughter of Ariwa Sounds and high priestess of UK dub – as well Earl 16, who spent time recording in Lee’s Black Ark Studios back in the 70s.
On the passing of Lee Scratch Perry long-time friend and collaborator Mad Professor penned a touching tribute to the late dub visionary:
“The end of an era! We first worked in the early eighties, recording several tracks and doing several tours, having many laughs, sharing many dreams.
Sometimes he is the father, other times the son, sometimes, he is the advisor, other times he is seeing advise! I am missing him already, but happy to have known him. We have released about 20 album releases, and have another 20 albums waiting to be released…the end of an era !”
