ABOUT THE FILM
Warner Brother’s beloved, biographical 1997 film based on the life, career, and tragic death of Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was written and directed by Gregory Nava and includes a soundtrack with some of the performer’s most iconic songs. This cult classic starred an unknown Jennifer Lopez as Selena, quickly catapulting her to her own pop-culture stardom.
The story follows Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, a young, beautiful, enormously gifted female, Mexican American singer as she navigates the male-dominated Tejano music scene. Its scenes capture her rise to fame, from the moment her father, Abraham Quintanilla (Edward James Olmos), discovers her unique voice as a child, to her early career struggles caught between two cultures. She goes from playing at swap meets with her brother and sister to selling out Houston’s Astrodome for one of her final performances.
Join us as we celebrate the enduring legend of Selena
You may bring blankets, pillows, low chairs, and picnics (including beer and wine - NO distilled spirits).
There will be onsite food and beverage for purchase!
