Glasgow Americana 2022
Dean Owens & Hannah Aldridge
GBP12.75 - GBP15.00
Double bill during Glasgow Americana with two incredible acts sharing the stage, swapping songs & stories.
Award winning Scottish singer songwriter Dean Owens is one of UK’s finest troubadours, with fans including authors Irvine Welsh and Ian Rankin, and BBC legend Bob Harris.
Defying categorisation, his songs are a unique blend of Americana and Scottish roots - the unfettered enthusiasm of a rock n roller and the sympathetic delivery of folk’s best storytellers.
A spellbinding live performer, armed with a searingly soulful voice, skilfully crafted songs and earworm inducing melodies, Dean’s travels have taken him from Scotland’s post industrial heartlands to the panoramic vistas of the US deserts where he recorded his latest album Sinner’s Shrine with desert noir icons Calexico.
the pulse of all our lives… Irvine Welsh
Born in Muscle Shoals, the daughter of Alabama/Nashville Hall of Fame writer Walt Aldridge, Hannah is a chip off the old block in terms of talent but is very much her own woman, as a recording artist and electrifying live performer. In her songs, she’s facing down demons of a life once lived, from substance abuse to failed relationships and scars from the lashes of the bible belt. Dark, but irresistibly engaging.
Hannah is steadily making a name for herself through extensive touring in UK (including a sold out show at the last Southern Fried Festival), Europe and Australia, as well as in USA.
She is currently working on her third album (with Australia’s Lachlan Bryan), to follow up the remarkable Gold Rush and Razor Wire.
Riveting… spinetingling performance… No Depression
